Program:
NON-MEMBERS / VISITORS are welcome, pay $5.00 per walk and must email - info@tablelandsbushwalking.org at least three days before the walk for the meeting place and start time. In most cases you need your own vehicle to access the start of the walk.

STANDARD REQUIREMENTS: Boots/enclosedfootwear; long/short trousers; high gaiters/sock protectors; hat; sunburn cream;  morning and afternoon tea (smoko); lunch; 2 litres of water, camera. Please bring your own personal first aid kit. View the reccommended first aid kit list.

NAME TAGS: must be attached to packs to identify you as a Club Member. It is advisable to carry a whistle as a safety precaution.

WALKERS must be members for car camps, overnight walks and backpack walks, and must have done some walks with the club. Membership information

Risks and Obligations:
All non-member walkers are requested to sign a waiver form 'Acknowledgment of Risks and Obligations by Non-Members' stating that ......  "In voluntarily participating in an activity of this Club, I am aware that this may expose me to risks that could lead to injury, illness or death or to loss of or damage to my property. To minimize these risks, I have endeavored to ensure that: this activity is within my capabilities, and: I am carrying food, water and equipment appropriate for the activity. I have advised the activity leader if I am taking any medication or have any physical or other limitation that might affect my participation in the activity.  I will make every effort to remain with the rest of the party during the activity. I have read and understand these requirements".

WALKS PROGRAM - October – December - Final Program for 2011

Standard requirements are needed on all walks unless otherwise stated

October 5th Wednesday Mt Peter
Moderate walk up to a ridge leading to Mt Peter (401m). Views over Gordonvale. Open grassy country so wear gaiters. About 5km. Depart 47-51 Dempsey Street Gordonvale 8.30 am.

October 16th Sunday Windin & Caribou Falls
Depart from Lammin’s Hill lookout (past Butcher’s Creek off the Topaz Road) at 8.30 am. A moderate walk to a set of great waterfalls down the Old Cairns Track.

October 19th Wednesday Lunch Time Rocks – Bartle Frere
Depart Lammin’s Hill 7.30 am. Depart trail head approximately 8.00 am. Easy 20 minutes to Bobbin Falls then approximately 3 hours ascent with not much respite. Morning tea at the large rock cave. Sea views at lunch. Hard due to length, steepness and uneven ground. Those who wish to go to the summit should leave the trail head at 6.00 am.

October 22nd & 23rd Saturday & Sunday Social/Overnight Back Pack to Tinaroo Creek
Dust off the large backpack and camping gear for an overnight trip behind Tinaroo Dam. Rated moderate but a few short steep hills. Swimming on the way in and camping beside a creek. Open woodland, cycads, beautiful creek. Bring all necessary camping gear including gas stove if cooking.(fire bans in place) Organise car shuffle before arriving at Tinaroo as limited car parks. Meet 8:00 am at Pensini’s restaurant car park.

October 29th & 30th Saturday and Sunday Petford Car Camp
Saturday - Depart Petford 9.00 am. Drive about 6km for walk to Frazer Lookout. Take Smoko
Drive back to hut for a noon walk to Mt Wade. Road into hut is in good condition. Just need to take it slowly. Tank water at the hut.
Saturday night – Bring share meal. There is a wood stove. BBQ if needed.
Sunday – There will be a short walk before heading home.
It will be hot so bring long sleeve shirt, hat, good boots, plenty of water.

November 2nd Wednesday Varch Creek Road
Easy walk through rainforest. No great views just fairly easy walking along an old logging road. Depart Davies Creek turn off 8.30 am.

November 6th Sunday Peterson Creek
Easy walk along Peterson Creek and then down to Lake Tinaroo. Swim. Depart toilet block at Yungaburra park opposite Eden House 8.00 am.

November 13th Sunday Mount Coobaingalgi Circuit
This is a hard walk in the Tinaroo area to the north of Mt Edith. The walk is slightly over 10 kilometres and ascends approximately 700 metres across the day. We start out on an old road and finish on an old road but the majority of the walk is off track. Great forest, some good lookouts for the brave, and a few other surprises. Depart at 7:30 am from Boar Pocket Road or 7:50am at the Tinaroo Falls Road turnoff from Danbulla Road. If you don't know where this is then email or ring me.

November 16th Wednesday Mobray Falls
The walk starts at the top of the Bump at Black Mt Road Julatten. It is down the bump track to Robbins Creek then down the creek to the Mobray falls. Some rock hopping not too hard . About 9 KM. Depart Ant Hill Park Mareeba at 8.00 am. Though people from Cairns might prefer to come up the coast road and meet us at the Bump track (top end). It is about 50 minutes from Mareeba.

November 27th Sunday Emerald Creek Falls
Celebrate another successful year of Sunday walks at Emerald Creek falls. Depart 8.30 am corner of Tinaroo Creek Road and Kennedy Highway (across the road from Southedge Seeds). Short walk, morning tea and a swim before our shared lunch. Bring a chair.

November 30th Wednesday Christmas Party
Celebrate another successful year of Wednesday walks at Ringers Rest, Fichera Road, Mareeba. Depart 8.30 am corner of Tinaroo Creek Road and Kennedy Highway (across the road from Southedge Seeds). Short walk, morning tea and a swim at Tinaroo Creek before our shared lunch. Coffee, tea, sugar, milk, cups, crockery, cutlery, tables, chairs, fridges, hot water and toilets provided at the lunch spot. Lunch spot paid for by the club. Dress and theme Christmas.

December 11th Sunday Bare Hill
Walk to Bare Hill the long way via Davies Creek Falls, Tin Creek and Split Rock. Longer day with several steep ascents and descents. Walk through open woodland with magnificent boulders and views. Opportunity for a swim at the end of the walk. Depart 7:30 am Davies Creek turnoff and Kennedy Highway. Standard requirement, extra water, swimming togs.

December 14th Wednesday Torpedo Bay
Easy walk. Some climbing. Swim at end. Depart Pensinis, Tinaroo at 9.00 am.
